By offering the flexibility of packaging and inside a SUV with the performance, fuel economy, and the price of a compact car, the new 2011 Jeep Compass also has more than 30 safety and security features, including side air bags curtain airbags, electronic stability program (ESC), electronic roll compensation, Hill Start Assist (manual transmission), side curtain airbags for all rows of seating and Pre-mounted side airbags.
Design
The new Jeep Compass 2011 has a separate family, as the new, premium Jeep Grand Cherokee 2011.

The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package includes a second generation bridge continuous variable with low range (CVT2L) that is activated when off-road mode is activated, the 17-inch all-terrain tires and aluminum wheels, a tower a thumbs up, a tire full size spare, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps and manual seat height. The available Freedom Drive II Off-Road situations is recommended for moderate off-road including steep grades, occasional wheel lift and rock or log climbing.
The powertrain of 2011 Jeep Compass is designed to provide world-class performance in all weather conditions, fuel economy and refinement, all at affordable prices, value-packed prices.
Jeep Compass features a standard 2.0-liter engine for Compass World Latitude and providing 158 hp (117 kW) and 141 lb.-ft. (191 N • m) of torque associated with a transmission Continuously Variable (CVT2), and provides unprecedented 23 mpg city and 29 mpg on the highway when paired with the manual transmission with five speeds.
Testing 2.4-liter engine produces 172 horsepower in the world and 165 lb.-ft. of torque and is available on all models and standard on the Limited. This 2.4-liter World Engine has dual variable valve timing (VVT) on both intake exhaust camshafts, which helps optimize the torque curve at all speeds and produces more power, better fuel economy and smoother, quieter without dual VVT engine. Dual VVT is a technology typically not available on vehicles sold in the U.S. in the price category of the Jeep Compass. Jeep Compass 2.4 liter four-cylinder mated to a five-speed manual transaxle in front wheel drive configuration offers unparalleled 23 miles per gallon (mpg) city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Jeep Compass also features a transaxle manual five-speed entry-level Compass and a CVT transmission, which is available on Compass and level Latitude and Limited. CVT2 Compass "is a second-generation CVT that Chrysler Group engineers calibrated for pleasing engine response and precise ratio control. CVT2 contributes to an improvement in consumption of 6-8 percent compared to a conventional automatic transmission with four speeds. Jeep Compass CVT2 also improves vehicle performance compared with a traditional automatic transaxle because of optimized gear, especially in 30-60 mph when passing.
