Based very closely with popular X6 Concept BMW X6 crossover coupe launched, the 2009 model year, calling it a "Sport Activity Coupe." Together with the wild exterior comes an all-new twin-turbo V8, which find their way into other new BMW in the next few years.
BMW is the first automaker to bring such an SUV on the market, although other automakers are said to be planning similar vehicles cut. Land Rover, for example, recently unveiled its LRX coupe crossover concept.
Compared with the concept, nothing has changed. In fact, you will hardly see any difference. The only obvious design tweak was made the crossover side windows. The concept, the B-and C-pillars are not visible, but the production car they clearly divide the glass.
The X6 complex front fender design made its production. Each quarter panel surrounds the entire headlamp, creating a uniform appearance. aggressive front X6 was transferred to the concept and its large air intakes and stylish fog lamps.
The bold design
As illustrated above, the X6 is anything but a conservative design.
The roof line begins X6 significant drop after the B-pillar and continues plunging right up the waist of the X6. Consequently, the liquidation of the second row and rear cargo volume are both compromised.
The new X6 is longer and lower than the X5, seating only four. But what the sporty X6 loses seats and storage, the gains in performance.
Compared to the X5 X6 has almost an inch of additional wheelbase length, and added two inches wide. The total height of the X6 is a huge 3.3 inches lower than the X5.
All new twin-turbo V8
The range-topping X6 xDrive50i is powered by a V8 unit completely new twin-turbo 4.4-liter producing 400 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 446 lb-ft of torque between 1750 rpm and 4500 rpm. Sprint to 62mph takes just 5.4 seconds and fuel economy is estimated at about 19 miles per gallon (U.S. gallon).
The engine is designed as a replacement for its current V8 naturally aspirated 4.8-liter. Is expected to filter into other models such as the Series 5 and Series 6-7-series in the near future.
The engine seems to be the second phase of the transition to a BMW high-displacement naturally aspirated engine is slightly smaller turbo power plants. twin-turbo 3.0-liter BMW 335i to the 135th power and has received very positive reviews, and shows similar results for the BMW hopes the new V8.
X6 remaining engine is also a typical two-turbo. The xDrive35i comes with the aforementioned 3.0-liter inline-six from the 335i, producing 300 horsepower.
